Parāvasu and Arvāvasu
त॑ ते प्रवरयामासुर्निरासुश्च॒ परावसुम् । ततो देवा वरं तस्मै ददुरग्निपुरोगमा:,लोमशजी कहते हैं--राजन्! अर्वावसुके उस कार्यसे सूर्य आदि सब देवता उसपर प्रसन्न हो गये। उन्होंने अर्वावसुका यज्ञमें वरण कराया एवं परावसुको निकलवा दिया। तत्पश्चात् अग्नि-सूर्य आदि देवताओंने उन्हें वर देनेकी इच्छा प्रकट की
taṁ te pravarayāmāsur nirāsuś ca parāvasum | tato devā varaṁ tasmai dadur agnipurogamāḥ ||
Lomaśa disse: “Ó rei, os deuses, liderados por Agni, satisfeitos com aquele feito, fizeram com que ele fosse escolhido como oficiante no sacrifício e expulsaram Parāvasu. Depois, os deuses à frente de Agni manifestaram o desejo de lhe conceder uma dádiva.”
लोगमश उवाच
Righteous action earns moral and social legitimacy: when conduct aligns with dharma, even powerful authorities (here, the gods) uphold the worthy, remove the unworthy, and confer grace (vara) as a recognition of merit.
Lomaśa narrates that the gods, pleased by the protagonist’s deed, formally appoint him to the sacrificial role and expel Parāvasu; then the gods led by Agni are ready to grant him a boon.
