The Birth and Career Account of Māndhātṛ
न युक्तमिति तं॑ प्राह भगवान् भार्गवस्तदा । सुतार्थ स्थापिता ह्यापस्तपसा चैव सम्भूता:,तब भगवान् च्यवनने कहा--“महान् बल और पराक्रमसे सम्पन्न राजर्षि युवनाश्व! यह तुमने ठीक नहीं किया। इस कलभमें मैंने तुम्हें ही पुत्र प्रदान करनेके लिये तपस्यासे संस्कारयुक्त किया हुआ जल रखा था और कठोर तपस्या करके उसमें ब्रह्मतेजकी स्थापना की थी
na yuktam iti taṁ prāha bhagavān bhārgavas tadā | sutārthaṁ sthāpitā hy āpas tapasā caiva sambhūtāḥ ||
Então o venerável Bhārgava (Cyavana) lhe disse: “Isso não é apropriado. Pois aquelas águas foram preparadas e fortalecidas por austeridades para o fim de conceder um filho; por severo tapas eu as consagrei e nelas estabeleci uma potência espiritual sagrada.”
