Cyavana’s Reconciliation with Indra; Tīrtha-Indexing at Ārcīka-parvata and Yamunā
Chapter 125
भयात् संस्तम्भितभुज: सृक्किणी लेलिहन् मुहुः । ततोअब्रवीद् देवराजश्व्यवनं भयपीडित:
bhayāt saṁstambhitabhujaḥ sṛkkīṇī lelihan muhuḥ | tato 'bravīd devarājaś cyavanaṁ bhayapīḍitaḥ ||
Disse Lomaśa: Tomado pelo medo, com os braços rígidos e lambendo repetidas vezes os cantos da boca, o rei dos deuses—Indra, atormentado pelo terror—falou então a Cyavana. Ao ver o terrível demônio Mada avançar para devorá-lo como a própria Morte, Indra, abalado pelo pavor da destruição, buscou refúgio num voto de justiça: prometeu que, a partir daquele dia, os dois gêmeos Aśvin teriam direito de beber Soma, e afirmou a verdade de sua palavra para conquistar o favor do sábio.
