Adhyāya 96: Nārada Guides Mātali in Varuṇa’s Realm
Varuṇa-loka Darśana
devamānuṣalokau dvau mānuṣeṇaiva cakṣuṣā | avagāhāv iva vicitau na ca me rocate varaḥ |
Contudo, nenhum pretendente me agrada.”

True worthiness is not guaranteed by rank or realm; even after surveying the highest (devaloka) and the ordinary (human society), one must choose based on inner ethical discernment and genuine suitability.
Kaṇva reports that he has searched widely—symbolically across divine and human spheres—for a suitable bridegroom for a maiden, but none meets his approval, indicating a continuing quest for an ideal match.
