कृष्णेन विदुरं प्रति आगमन-हेतु-निवेदनम् / Krishna explains the purpose of his coming to Vidura
न पाण्डवानामस्माभि: प्रतिदेयं यथोचितम् । इति व्यवसितास्तेषु वचन स्यान्निरर्थकम्
na pāṇḍavānām asmābhiḥ pratideyaṃ yathocitam | iti vyavasitās teṣu vacanaṃ syān nirarthakam ||
Vaiśaṃpāyana disse: «Os filhos de Dhṛtarāṣṭra resolveram firmemente: “Não daremos aos Pāṇḍavas o que lhes é devido.” Como estão fixos nessa decisão, quaisquer palavras dirigidas a eles—mesmo com o intuito de reconciliação e de despertar o sentimento fraterno—serão inúteis.»
वैशम्पायन उवाच
When a party is firmly resolved against dharma—refusing what is rightfully due—mere persuasion and conciliatory speech may become ineffective; ethical action must account for entrenched injustice and deliberate obstinacy.
Vaiśampāyana reports that Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s sons have decided not to grant the Pāṇḍavas their proper share of the kingdom; therefore, attempts at reconciliation and counsel addressed to them are expected to be fruitless.
