The verse highlights a dharmic instinct: in moments of political strain, one seeks the company and counsel of the virtuous. Vāsudeva choosing Vidura’s home underscores respect for integrity, wise counsel, and ethical clarity over mere power or status.
After leaving the previous location, Vāsudeva (Kṛṣṇa) goes to stay at Vidura’s house. This occurs within the Udyoga Parva’s diplomatic setting, where alliances, negotiations, and moral positioning intensify before the outbreak of war.
