Omens and Reception During Keśava’s Departure
so ’vatīrya rathāt tūṛṇam abhivādya janārdanaḥ | yathāvṛttān ṛṣīn sarvān abhyabhāṣata pūjayan ||
Even a supreme leader like Kṛṣṇa exemplifies dharma through humility: promptly dismounting, offering respectful salutations, and honoring sages. The verse underscores that ethical conduct includes reverence toward spiritual wisdom and proper social decorum, especially in moments charged with political or martial consequence.
Kṛṣṇa arrives by chariot, immediately gets down, salutes the assembled sages who are standing as previously described, and then addresses them respectfully—signaling deference and seeking/acknowledging their counsel.
