अध्याय ८ — शल्यस्य सत्कारः, वरदानं, पाण्डवसमागमश्च (Śalya’s Reception, the Boon, and Meeting the Pāṇḍavas)
सर्व जगदिदं तात विदितं ते परंतप । दिष्ट्या कृच्छुमिदं राजन् पारितं भरतर्षभ
sarva jagad idaṃ tāta viditaṃ te parantapa | diṣṭyā kṛcchum idaṃ rājan pāritaṃ bharatarṣabha ||
Vaiśampāyana disse: “Meu querido filho, ó abrasador de inimigos, a verdade deste mundo inteiro te é conhecida. Ó rei, touro entre os Bhāratas, é de fato uma bênção que tenhas atravessado esta crise dolorosa.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse praises a ruler’s discernment—knowing the ‘truth of the world’—and frames survival through hardship as a matter of both inner strength and auspicious fortune, reinforcing the ethical ideal that wisdom and steadiness help one cross crises.
Vaiśaṃpāyana addresses a Bharata king in respectful, affectionate terms, commending him for his understanding and congratulating him for having successfully come through a severe difficulty.
