Nakula’s Adaptive Counsel to Kṛṣṇa in the Kuru Assembly (उद्योगपर्व, अध्याय ७८)
सर्व त्विदं ममायत्तं बीभत्सो कर्मणोर्द्दयो: । क्षेत्र हि रसवच्छुद्ध कर्मणैवोपपादितम्
sarva tvidaṃ mamāyattaṃ bībhatsō karmaṇordvayoḥ | kṣetra hi rasavacchuddhaṃ karmaṇaivopapāditam ||
Arjuna disse: “De fato, tudo isto depende de mim, ó Bībhatsu, no que toca a ambos os caminhos da ação. Pois o campo—puro e dotado de suas qualidades próprias—só se estabelece por meio da ação correta.”
अर्जुन उवाच
The verse stresses moral agency: outcomes in the ethical ‘field’ depend on one’s own choice and execution of action; purity and proper order are established through right conduct, not merely intention.
Arjuna speaks in the Udyoga Parva context of impending conflict and deliberation, emphasizing that the situation hinges on his decision between two possible courses of action and that the rightful sphere of action is secured through deeds.
