Udyoga Parva, Adhyāya 72 — Bhīmasena’s counsel on conciliation and Duryodhana’s disposition
शमं वै याचमानस्त्वं नाधर्म तत्र लप्स्यसे । कुरून् विगर्हयिष्यन्ति धृतराष्ट्र च पार्थिवा:,वहाँ शान्तिके लिये याचना करनेपर आप अधर्मके भी भागी न होंगे। सब राजा कौरवोंकी तथा धृतराष्ट्रकी ही निन््दा करेंगे
śamaṃ vai yācamānas tvaṃ nādharmaṃ tatra lapsyase | kurūn vigarhayiṣyanti dhṛtarāṣṭraṃ ca pārthivāḥ ||
Se buscares a paz e fizeres um apelo à reconciliação, não incorrerás por isso em nenhuma parcela de adharma. Ao contrário, os reis condenarão os Kuru—e também Dhṛtarāṣṭra—por recusarem o que é justo.
