Sañjaya’s Knowledge of Keśava and the Discipline of Indriya-nigraha
bhūyo bhūyo hi yad rājan pṛcchase pāṇḍavānū prati | sārāsārabala jñātuṃ tat samāsena me śṛṇu ||

Repeated questioning should lead to clear discernment: Sañjaya frames his reply as a concise evaluation of what truly matters (sāra) versus what is secondary (asāra), along with an honest appraisal of the Pāṇḍavas’ real power—implying that ethical and strategic clarity must guide royal decisions.
Dhṛtarāṣṭra has been repeatedly asking about the Pāṇḍavas. Sañjaya responds that he will summarize the matter, focusing on the essential points and on assessing their strength—setting up a broader report meant to inform the king’s judgment in the tense lead-up to conflict.
