Chapter 49: Sañjaya’s Enumeration of the Pāṇḍava Coalition (पाण्डवसैन्यसमागम-वर्णनम्)

The verse highlights the ethical and strategic weight of rightful support: when a community is anchored in a powerful protector who embodies guidance and legitimacy (Vāsudeva for the Pāṇḍavas), their resolve and capacity to act become firm—much as the gods rely on Indra. It underscores the role of righteous alliance and dependable refuge in sustaining dharmic action.
Sañjaya reports to the Kuru side that the Pāṇḍavas, backed by Vāsudeva (Kṛṣṇa), are moving to engage—preparing to attack/advance. The comparison to Indra signals that Kṛṣṇa is not merely an ally but the decisive support around whom their campaign is organized.
