यदा मन्द: परबाणान्‌ विमुक्तान्‌ ममेषुभिह्ठियमाणान्‌ प्रतीपम्‌ । तिर्यग्विध्याच्छिद्यमानान्‌ पृषत्कै- स्तदा युद्ध धार्तराष्ट्रोडन्वतप्स्यत्‌,'युद्धमें दूसरे योद्धा जो बाण चलायेंगे, उन्हें मेरे बाण टक्कर लेकर पीछे लौटा देंगे। साथ ही मेरे दूसरे बाण शत्रुओंके शरसमूहको तिर्यगभावसे विद्ध करके टुकड़े-टुकड़े कर डालेंगे। जब मन्दबुद्धि दुर्योधन यह सब देखेगा, तब उसे युद्ध छेड़नेके कारण बड़ा पश्चात्ताप होगा

yadā mandaḥ parabāṇān vimuktān mameṣubhiḥ pratīpaṃ nivāryamāṇān | tiryag vidhyāc chidyamānān pṛṣatkaiḥ tadā yuddhe dhārtarāṣṭro ’nutapsyati ||

Sañjaya disse: «Na batalha, as flechas disparadas por outros guerreiros serão contidas por meus dardos e rechaçadas para trás. E outras flechas minhas, atingindo de través, atravessarão e despedaçarão as saraivadas do inimigo. Quando o obtuso Dhārtarāṣṭra (Duryodhana) vir isso, arrepender-se-á—amargamente—de ter provocado esta guerra.»
