War-aversion, Desire as a Policy Fault, and Analysis of Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s Governance
न कर्मणां विप्रणाशो<्त्यमुत्र पुण्यानां वाप्यथवा पापकानाम् | पूर्व कर्तुर्गच्छति पुण्यपापं पश्चात् त्वेनमनुयात्येव कर्ता,पुण्य अथवा पाप किन्हीं भी कर्मोका परलोकमें नाश नहीं होता है। पहले कतकके पुण्य और पाप परलोकमें जाते हैं, फिर उन्हींके पीछे-पीछे कर्ता जाता है
na karmaṇāṁ vipraṇāśo 'sty amutra puṇyānāṁ vāpy athavā pāpakānām | pūrvaṁ kartur gacchati puṇyapāpaṁ paścāt tv enam anuyāty eva kartā ||
Disse Sañjaya: No mundo além, nenhum dos atos de alguém se desfaz — sejam meritórios ou pecaminosos. Primeiro, o mérito e o pecado do agente seguem adiante para a outra vida; depois, o próprio agente os acompanha.
संजय उवाच
Deeds do not perish in the afterlife: both merit (puṇya) and sin (pāpa) persist and inevitably accompany the agent, affirming moral accountability beyond death.
Sañjaya is speaking and articulates a general dharmic principle about karma and its consequences, emphasizing that the fruits of actions precede and then follow the doer into the next world.
