Sañjaya’s Envoy-Speech on Peace
तेनानुबन्ध॑ मन्यते धारतराष्ट्र: शक्यं हर्तु पाण्डवानां ममत्वम् | किरीटिना तालमात्रायुधेन तद्वेदिना संयुगं तत्र गत्वा
tenānubandhaṁ manyate dhṛtarāṣṭraḥ śakyaṁ hartuṁ pāṇḍavānāṁ mamatvam | kirīṭinā tālamātrāyudhena tadvedinā saṁyugaṁ tatra gatvā ||
Disse Sañjaya: “Ó Dhritarashtra, ele imagina que pode cortar o direito legítimo e o sentimento de posse dos Pândavas sobre o reino. Mas, para isso, terá de descer ao campo de batalha e enfrentar Arjuna, o portador do diadema—armado com um arco de medida tāla e mestre consumado na ciência da arquearia. Pensar que tal direito pode ser tomado ‘facilmente’ é cegueira moral, pois exige guerra contra homens fortes, hábeis e justificados em sua causa.”
