Adhyāya 20 — Rājadharma Argument for Paternal Inheritance and Timely Conciliation
सर्व कौशल्यमुक्त्वा55दौ पृष्टवा चैवमनामयम् । सर्वसेनाप्रणेतृणां मध्ये वाक्यमुवाच ह
sarva-kauśalyam uktvā pr̥ṣṭvā caivam anāmayam | sarva-senā-praṇetr̥ṇāṁ madhye vākyam uvāca ha ||
Vaiśampāyana disse: Tendo primeiro transmitido todas as palavras de bem-estar e, em seguida, perguntado com respeito sobre a saúde e a ausência de enfermidade, ele falou no meio de todos os comandantes do exército. A cena ressalta a ética da corte: mesmo os assuntos políticos mais graves começam com uma cortês indagação pelo bem-estar, antes de tratar do que toca à responsabilidade coletiva e ao conflito iminente.
