Rāma disse: “Ó descendente de Kuru, minha mãe está de pé na água. Por que razão te atormentas assim, nobre senhora? Diz-me a verdade — fala-me com franqueza.”
राम उवाच
The verse foregrounds satya (truthfulness) and compassionate clarity: one should not prolong suffering through concealment or self-torment, but speak the truth directly when duty and concern require it.
Rāma addresses a Kuru-descended woman, noting that his mother is standing in water (suggesting distress or a vow/penance), and urges the woman to explain honestly why she is suffering and what the real situation is.
