ततो युद्ध समभवन्मम तस्य च भारत | दिवसान् सुबहून् राजन् परस्परजिगीषया,राजन! भरतनन्दन! तदनन्तर एक-दूसरेको जीतनेकी इच्छासे मेरा तथा परशुरामजीका युद्ध बहुत दिनोंतक चलता रहा
tato yuddhaṃ samabhavan mama tasya ca bhārata | divasān subahūn rājan parasparajigīṣayā ||
Então ergueu-se a batalha entre mim e ele, ó descendente de Bharata. Por muitos dias, ó Rei, movidos pelo desejo mútuo de nos conquistarmos, meu combate com Paraśurāma prosseguiu sem trégua — cada qual buscando a vitória sobre o outro.
राम उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical intensity of kṣatriya rivalry: combat is sustained not by chance but by deliberate resolve (jigīṣā). It underscores how the will to dominate can prolong conflict, inviting reflection on restraint and the proper aims of martial power.
Rāma recounts that after a certain point, a direct battle broke out between him and Paraśurāma, and it continued for many days as both sought to defeat the other.
