न भयान्नाप्यनुक्रोशान्नार्थलो भान्न काम्यया । क्षात्रं धर्ममहं जह्यामिति मे व्रतमाहितम्‌,“मैं भयसे, दयासे, धनके लोभसे तथा और किसी कामनासे भी क्षत्रियधर्मका त्याग नहीं कर सकता, यह मेरा स्वीकार किया हुआ व्रत है”

na bhayān nāpy anukrośān nārthalobhān na kāmyayā | kṣātraṃ dharmam ahaṃ jahyām iti me vratam āhitam ||

Rāma disse: «Nem por medo, nem mesmo por compaixão, nem por cobiça de riquezas, nem por qualquer desejo pessoal eu abandonaria o dever do guerreiro. Este é o voto que assumi com firmeza.»
