भीष्म–दुर्योधनसंवादः — शिखण्डिनं न हन्तुं कारणकथनम्

Amba-ākhyāna prologue

स योत्स्यति हि विक्रम्य समरे तव सैनिकै: । राजेन्द्र! राजा सेनाबिन्दुका दूसरा नाम क्रोधहन्ता भी है। प्रभो! वे भगवान्‌ श्रीकृष्ण तथा भीमसेनके समान पराक्रमी माने जाते हैं। वे समरांगणमें तुम्हारे सैनिकोंके साथ पराक्रम प्रकट करते हुए युद्ध करेंगे

sa yotsyati hi vikramya samare tava sainikaiḥ | rājendra |

Bhīṣma disse: “Pois ele, de fato, lutará—avançando com valor—no campo de batalha contra os teus soldados, ó melhor dos reis.” No contexto, Bhīṣma ressalta a inevitabilidade da guerra quando tal guerreiro resolve exibir sua proeza, lembrando ao monarca que a força das armas, uma vez posta em movimento, impõe grave ponderação ética e estratégica.
