Past actions and remembered injuries shape present choices: the verse highlights how earlier deeds (purākṛtam) can harden resolve and drive conflict, reminding rulers that ethical lapses and insults have long consequences in political and martial life.
Bhishma is briefing the king about a group of five chariot-warriors, naming Satyaratha as their leader, and stating that they will fight in the coming battle with determination, motivated by remembrance of an earlier incident that created enmity.
