भीष्मस्य सेनापत्यप्रतिज्ञा तथा रथसंख्यावर्णनम् | Bhishma Accepts Command and Enumerates Kaurava Strength
भ्रातृणां निधन श्रुत्वा पुत्राणां च सुयोधन । भीमसेनेन निहतो दुष्कृतानि स्मरिष्यसि,'सुयोधन! तू अपने भाइयों और पुत्रोंका मरण सुनकर और भीमसेनके हाथसे स्वयं भी मारा जाकर अपने पापोंको याद करेगा
bhrātṝṇāṁ nidhanaṁ śrutvā putrāṇāṁ ca suyodhana | bhīmasenena nihato duṣkṛtāni smariṣyasi ||
Sañjaya disse: “Ó Suyodhana, quando ouvires da morte de teus irmãos e de teus filhos, e quando tu mesmo fores morto por Bhīmasena, então recordarás teus próprios maus feitos.”
संजय उवाच
Unrighteous action (duṣkṛta) ripens into suffering: when consequences arrive—loss of kin and one’s own death—one is forced into moral self-recognition. The verse frames war not merely as violence but as the ethical fruition of prior wrongdoing.
Sañjaya addresses Suyodhana (Duryodhana) with a grim foretelling: he will hear of the deaths of his brothers and sons, and then be slain by Bhīmasena; at that moment he will remember the misdeeds that led to this end.
