Bhīṣma’s Appointment as Commander-in-Chief
तच्छुत्वा वासुदेवो5पि सव्यसाचिवचस्तदा | स्मयमानोअ<ब्रवीद् वाक््यं पार्थमेवमिति ब्रुवन्,अर्जुनका यह वचन सुनकर भगवान् श्रीकृष्ण भी युधिष्ठिरसे मुसकराते हुए बोले--'हाँ, अर्जुन ठीक कहते हैं!
tac chrutvā vāsudevo 'pi savyasācivacas tadā | smayamāno 'bravīd vākyam pārtham evam iti bruvan ||
Ao ouvir as palavras de Arjuna, Vāsudeva (Śrī Kṛṣṇa) também sorriu e dirigiu-se a Pārtha (Arjuna), confirmando: “Sim — Arjuna fala com acerto.”
वैशग्पायन उवाच
Wise counsel is affirmed not only by argument but also by the demeanor of the righteous: Kṛṣṇa’s smile and assent indicate calm clarity and ethical alignment, reinforcing that discernment (right judgment) should be met with steady approval rather than agitation.
Vaiśaṃpāyana narrates that after hearing Arjuna’s statement, Kṛṣṇa (Vāsudeva) smiles and speaks to Arjuna (Pārtha), explicitly agreeing that Arjuna’s words are correct—an approving response within the tense preparations leading toward war.
