अथान्तरिक्षे वागासीद्‌ दिव्यरूपा मनोरमा । सहस्राक्षसम: कुन्ति भविष्यत्येष ते सुत:,कुन्ती बोली--केशव! तुम अर्जुनसे जाकर कहना, तुम्हारे जन्मके समय जब मैं नारियोंसे घिरी हुई आश्रमके सूतिकागारमें बैठी थी, उसी समय आकाशमें यह दिव्यरूपा मनोरम वाणी सुनायी दी--“कुन्ती! तेरा यह पुत्र इन्द्रके समान पराक्रमी होगा

Transliteration

athāntarikṣe vāg āsīd divyarūpā manoramā | sahasrākṣasamaḥ kunti bhaviṣyaty eṣa te sutaḥ ||

Translation

Então, do firmamento, ouviu-se uma voz encantadora, de forma divina: “Ó Kuntī, este teu filho será igual a Sahasrākṣa (Indra).” Tal enunciação funciona como garantia profética do poder destinado à criança, alicerçando as expectativas do dever heroico e o peso moral do conflito que se aproxima.
