The verse frames progeny as an ethical and dynastic responsibility: righteous lineage (dhārmika putras) is praised, and the addressee is urged to contribute a worthy successor—‘narottama’—so that virtue and stability continue through the family line.
Nārada addresses a respected man, noting that a noble woman has already borne three righteous sons to royal sages, and he urges the listener to beget one more outstanding son, who would become the fourth in that sequence.
