Nārada disse: “Eu a aceitarei. Que Vossa Majestade me conceda esta donzela —ela resplandece como uma filha dos deuses— para que me dê um único filho.”
नारद उवाच
The verse highlights how social and royal decisions can instrumentalize marriage for lineage goals; it invites reflection on dharma—balancing ascetic authority, royal obligation, and the moral necessity of respecting a woman’s agency rather than treating her as a mere means to produce an heir.
Nārada formally declares his willingness to accept a particular princess and asks the king to give her to him, specifying that the union is intended to produce only one son.
