माधवी-प्रदानम् (Mādhavī Offered to Gālava) — Udyoga Parva 113
प्रतिगृह्य॒ च सत्कारैरघ्र्यपाद्यादिकं वरम् पृष्टेश्षागमने हेतुमुवाच विनतासुत:,राजाके द्वारा सत्कारपूर्वक दिये हुए श्रेष्ठ अर्घ्य-पाद्य आदि ग्रहण करके विनतानन्दन गरुड़ने उनके पूछनेपर अपने आगमनका प्रयोजन इस प्रकार बताया--
pratigṛhya ca satkārair arghya-pādyādikaṁ varam pṛṣṭeṣv āgamane hetum uvāca vinatāsutaḥ
Depois de aceitar, com as devidas honras, as excelentes oferendas de boas-vindas —como o arghya e a água para lavar os pés—, Garuḍa, filho de Vinatā, quando interrogado, explicou o motivo de sua chegada.
नारद उवाच
The verse highlights dharmic hospitality: a guest is first honored with proper rites (arghya, pādya, respectful reception), and only afterward is the purpose of the visit asked. Courtesy precedes inquiry.
Garuda arrives and is received with formal honors. After he accepts these offerings, those present ask why he has come, and he begins to state his reason for arriving.
