Suparṇa–Gālava Saṃvāda
अष्टाविंशतिरात्रं च चड्क्रम्य सह भानुना । निष्पतन्ति पुन: सूर्यात् सोमसंयोगयोगतः,अभिजित्सहित अद्बाईस नक्षत्रोंमेंसे प्रत्येक अट्टाईसवें दिन सूर्यके साथ विचरण करके अमावस्याके बाद फिर सूर्यमण्डलसे पृथक् हो जाता है
aṣṭāviṁśatirātraṁ ca cakramya saha bhānunā | niṣpatanti punaḥ sūryāt somasaṁyogayogataḥ ||
Tendo completado um ciclo de vinte e oito noites em companhia do Sol, eles se separam novamente da esfera solar após a lua nova, em virtude de sua conjunção com a Lua. Assim, Abhijit—entre as vinte e duas mansões lunares—é descrito como aquele que, a cada vigésimo oitavo dia, caminha com o Sol e depois torna a apartar-se, assinalando o ritmo pelo qual se compreendem o tempo e as observâncias rituais.
