वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse presents the Mahābhārata’s moral causality: sustained dharmic conduct and meritorious observance yield tangible karmic results—honor, radiance, and joyful communion with the gods in heaven.
Vaiśaṃpāyana describes a blessed soul in heaven: wearing celestial garlands and garments, anointed with divine sandalwood, delighting in the company of the gods—appearing like a second deity.
