Strī-parva, Adhyāya 27
स्त्रिय: कुरुपतिर्धीमान् भ्रातुः प्रेमणा युधिष्ठिर: । स ताभि: सह धर्मात्मा प्रेतकृत्यमनन्तरम्
striyaḥ kurupatir dhīmān bhrātuḥ premaṇā yudhiṣṭhiraḥ | sa tābhiḥ saha dharmātmā pretakṛtyam anantaram ||
Vaiśampāyana disse: Yudhiṣṭhira, o sábio senhor dos Kurus, movido pelo amor ao irmão, então—junto daquelas mulheres—realizou sem demora os ritos fúnebres.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Dharma is shown as compassionate responsibility: even in intense sorrow, one should promptly fulfill the rites and duties owed to the departed, motivated by love and moral steadiness.
After the devastation of the war, Yudhiṣṭhira, described as wise and righteous, joins the grieving women and proceeds to carry out the funeral rites for his brother without delay.
