Forest Discipline and the Program of Non-Attachment
Steady perseverance (dhṛti) in a disciplined way of life enables one to remain composed even while the body is naturally afflicted by birth, death, aging, and disease; one should stand firm on a fear-free spiritual path rather than be shaken by inevitable suffering.
Yudhiṣṭhira speaks in the first person, affirming his resolve: by continuously practicing the described discipline with unwavering fortitude, he will maintain bodily composure despite life’s unavoidable afflictions, having committed himself to a fearless path of conduct and realization.
