Chapter 72 — Royal Duty: protection of subjects, taxation, punishment, and appointments
मा सम लुब्धांश्व मूर्खाश्व॒ कामार्थे च प्रयूयुज: । अलुब्धान् बुद्धिसम्पन्नान् सर्वकर्मसु योजयेत्
mā sama lubdhāṁś ca mūḍhāṁś ca kāmārthe ca prayuñjyāḥ | alubdhān buddhisampannān sarvakarmasu yojayet ||
Bhīṣma disse: “Não empregues os gananciosos nem os tolos em assuntos de desejo e riqueza. Antes, designa para todo tipo de dever aqueles que estão livres de ganância e dotados de bom discernimento.”
भीष्म उवाच
Do not entrust responsibilities—especially those involving pleasure and wealth—to greedy or foolish people; appoint the ungreedy and intelligent to all duties, since integrity and discernment protect dharma and public welfare.
