Paraśurāma’s origins and the depletion/restoration of kṣatriya lineages
चकार भार्गवो राजन् महीं शोणितकर्दमाम् | राजन! परम क्रोधी परशुरामने सहस्रों हैहयोंका वध करके इस पृथ्वीपर रक्तकी कीच मचा दी
cakāra bhārgavo rājan mahīṃ śoṇita-kardamām |
Disse Vāsudeva: “Ó rei, o Bhārgava (Paraśurāma) fez da terra um lamaçal de sangue—tão feroz era sua ira—depois de matar milhares de Haihayas.”
वासुदेव उवाच
The verse highlights the destructive moral and social consequences of uncontrolled anger: wrath can turn righteous grievance into indiscriminate devastation, staining the very earth with violence.
Vāsudeva recalls Paraśurāma’s furious campaign against the Haihayas, describing how, after killing thousands of them, he left the land drenched and churned into a ‘mire of blood’—a vivid image of mass slaughter.
