Yudhiṣṭhira’s Entry into the City and the Cārvāka Episode
द्विजावमानादन्यत्र प्रादाद् वरमनुत्तमम् | अभयं सर्वभूतेभ्यो ददौ तस्मै जगत्पति:,जगदीश्वर ब्रह्माजीने उसे यह परम उत्तम वर देते हुए कहा कि “तुम्हें ब्राह्मणका अपमान करनेके सिवा और कहीं किसीसे भय नहीं है” इस तरह उन्होंने उसे सम्पूर्ण प्राणियोंकी ओरसे अभयदान दे दिया
dvijāvamānād anyatra prādād varam anuttamam | abhayaṁ sarvabhūtebhyo dadau tasmai jagatpatiḥ ||
O Senhor do mundo concedeu-lhe um dom incomparável e disse: “Não terás medo de parte alguma—exceto no caso de insultares um brâmane.” Assim, o regente do cosmos deu-lhe garantia de segurança diante de todos os seres vivos, mas o vinculou eticamente à reverência aos duas-vezes-nascidos e à recusa do sacrilégio contra o saber e a conduta sagrados.
वायुदेव उवाच
Even extraordinary protection or power is ethically conditioned: fearlessness is granted, but it is bounded by a strict prohibition against insulting a brahmin (dvija). The verse underscores that reverence for sacred learning, restraint in speech, and respect for dharma are higher than mere invulnerability.
Vāyudeva reports that the cosmic lord (jagatpati) grants someone a supreme boon—security from all beings—while specifying a single exception: if he commits dvijāvamāna (insulting a brahmin), that protection does not apply. The boon functions as both reward and moral safeguard.
