तत्र न: संशयो जातस्तयोस्तेज:समागमे । अनयो: को भवेत् सूर्यो रथस्थो योडयमागत:
tatra naḥ saṁśayo jātas tayoḥ tejaḥ-samāgame | anayoḥ ko bhavet sūryo rathastho yo ’yam āgataḥ ||
Então, quando aqueles dois esplendores se encontraram, surgiu em nós uma dúvida: qual dos dois era o verdadeiro Sol—aquele que estava sentado no carro, ou aquele que acabara de chegar?
नाग उवाच
Brilliance and outward signs can mislead; true understanding requires viveka (discernment). The verse highlights how even divine-like radiance may be indistinguishable to observers, implying that identity and truth are not always settled by appearance alone.
A Nāga narrator describes a moment when two intensely radiant figures appear together. Their combined splendor creates confusion among the onlookers, who wonder which one is actually Sūrya—one seated on a chariot or the one who has just arrived.
