अध्याय ३५१ — उञ्छवृत्ति-व्रतसिद्धेः मानुषस्य परमगतिः
Sūrya–Nāga Dialogue on the Perfected Gleaner-Ascetic
ब्रह्माजीके पुत्र भूतनाथ श्रीकण्ठ उमापति भगवान् शिवने शान्तचित्त होकर पाशुपतज्ञानका उपदेश किया है ।। पाउचरात्रस्य कृत्स्नस्य वेत्ता तु भगवान् स्वयम् । सर्वेषु च नृपश्रेष्ठ ज्ञानेष्वेतेषु दृश्यते,नृपश्रेष्ठ! सम्पूर्ण पाउचरात्रके ज्ञाता तो साक्षात् भगवान् नारायण ही हैं। यदि वेदशास्त्र और अनुभवके अनुसार विचार किया जाय तो इन सभी ज्ञानोंमें इनके परम तात्पर्यरूपसे भगवान् नारायण ही स्थित दिखायी देते हैं। प्रजानाथ! जो अज्ञानमें डूबे हुए हैं, वे लोग भगवान् श्रीहरिको इस रूपमें नहीं जानते हैं
Vaiśampāyana uvāca | Pañcarātrasya kṛtsnasya vettā tu bhagavān svayam | sarveṣu ca nṛpaśreṣṭha jñāneṣv eteṣu dṛśyate || nṛpaśreṣṭha! sampūrṇa-pañcarātrasya jñātā tu sākṣād bhagavān Nārāyaṇa eva | yadi vedaśāstra-anubhava-anusāreṇa vicāryate, tarhi sarveṣu jñāneṣv eteṣu paramatātparyarūpeṇa bhagavān Nārāyaṇa eva sthita iti dṛśyate | prajānātha! ye ajñāne nimagnāḥ, te bhagavantaṃ Śrīhariṃ etasmin rūpe na jānanti ||
Vaiśampāyana disse: “Ó melhor dos reis, o Bem-aventurado Śiva—dito filho de Brahmā, Umāpati, Bhūtanātha e Śrīkaṇṭha—com a mente serena ensinou o conhecimento Pāśupata. E, ó soberano excelso, o conhecedor completo de todo o Pañcarātra é o próprio Senhor Nārāyaṇa. Se se examina segundo os Vedas, os śāstras e a experiência, vê-se que, em todos esses saberes, o sentido supremo, em última instância, aponta para Nārāyaṇa. Ó senhor dos povos, os que estão submersos na ignorância não reconhecem Śrī Hari nesta forma verdadeira e culminante.”
