Atithi-satkāra and the Consolation of Wise Counsel (अतिथिसत्कारः प्रज्ञानवचनस्य च पराश्वासनम्)
यस्त्वां वेत्ति स मां वेत्ति यस्त्वामनु स मामनु । नावयोरन्तरं किंचिन्मा ते5भूद् बुद्धिरन्यथा
yastvāṁ vetti sa māṁ vetti yastvām anu sa mām anu | nāvayor antaraṁ kiñcin mā te 'bhūd buddhir anyathā ||
“Quem verdadeiramente te conhece, conhece a Mim também; quem te segue, segue a Mim igualmente. Entre nós dois não há diferença alguma—não deixes que em tua mente surja pensamento contrário.”
अर्जुन उवाच
The verse teaches abheda (non-difference): true knowledge and devotion directed to one divine form is not separate from knowledge and devotion to the other; therefore, sectarian or divisive thinking should not arise.
A speaker asserts complete unity between two revered divine figures, stating that knowing or following one is equivalent to knowing or following the other, and instructs the listener not to entertain any contrary idea.
