Instruction on Kāla and the Removal of Grief
The verse identifies key moral transgressions—especially living by falsehood and obstructing or disrespecting one’s teacher—and frames them as serious sins, emphasizing that dharma depends on truthfulness and honoring established ethical boundaries (samaya).
In Śānti Parva’s dharma-instructional setting, Vyāsa addresses Kuntī’s son (Yudhiṣṭhira), listing and classifying wrongful behaviors as part of a broader ethical discourse on sin, conduct, and the need for atonement.
