न च प्रतिजघानास्य स गतिं पर्वतोत्तम: । तत्पश्चात् उन पर्वतशिखरोंसे वे सहसा आगे निकल गये। वह श्रेष्ठ पर्वत उनकी गतिको रोक न सका ।। ततो महानभूच्छब्दो दिवि सर्वदिवौकसाम्
na ca pratijaghānāsya sa gatiṁ parvatottamaḥ | tatpaścāt tu na parvataśikharaiḥ saḥ sahasā agre nirgataḥ | sa śreṣṭhaḥ parvatas tasya gatiṁ roddhuṁ na śaśāka || tato mahān abhūc chabdo divi sarvadivaukasām ||
Disse Bhishma: Aquele monte, o mais excelso, não pôde deter o seu avanço; não revidou nem impediu o seu movimento. Em seguida, ultrapassando de súbito aqueles picos, ele irrompeu adiante — tão grande era o seu ímpeto que nem a melhor das montanhas podia contê-lo.
