Adhyāya 325: Nārada in Śvetadvīpa—Stotra to the Nirguṇa Mahātman
पाद्यादीनि प्रतिग्राह्ू पूजया परयार्चयन्
pādyādīni pratigṛhya pūjayā parayārcayan
Bhīṣma disse: “Tendo aceitado as oferendas costumeiras, começando pela água para lavar os pés e outras, deve honrar o hóspede com a mais alta reverência, venerando-o com respeito sincero e completo.”
भीष्म उवाच
The verse teaches atithi-dharma: one should receive a guest with the full courtesies of hospitality (beginning with pādya) and honor them with the highest respect, treating service itself as a moral duty.
In Śānti Parva, Bhīṣma instructs Yudhiṣṭhira on righteous conduct. Here he describes the proper way to welcome and honor a guest—accepting the offered items of reception and then worshipping/serving with utmost reverence.
