देवतापितृप्रश्नः — Nārada at Badarīāśrama: the ultimate referent of daiva and pitṛ worship
दधाति यः स्वकर्मणा ददाति यस्य कस्यचित् | अबुद्धिमोहजैर्गुणैः: स एक एव युज्यते
dadhāti yaḥ svakarmaṇā dadāti yasya kasyacit | abuddhi-mohajair guṇaiḥ sa eka eva yujyate ||
Vyāsa disse: Aquele que sustenta o dharma por meio de seus próprios deveres justos, e que dá de modo desprendido a quem quer que seja, é o único verdadeiramente dotado das virtudes que nascem de uma mente livre de ilusão e de um entendimento sem névoa.
व्यास उवाच
True virtue is shown by sustaining dharma through one’s own rightful duties (svakarma) and giving without selfish motive; such a person is characterized by qualities grounded in clear understanding rather than delusion.
In the didactic setting of the Śānti Parva, Vyāsa articulates a moral criterion for excellence: the person who lives by duty and practices impartial, desireless giving is singled out as genuinely endowed with higher virtues.
