Śuka’s Guṇa-Transcendence and Vyāsa’s Consolation (शुकगति-वर्णनम्)
सांख्यज्ञान, योगविद्या तथा राजधर्म--इन तीन प्रकारके मोक्षधर्ममें मुझे गन्तव्य मार्ग गुरुदेवसे प्राप्त हो चुका है। इन विषयोंके मेरे सारे संशय दूर हो गये हैं ।। स यथाशान्त्रदृष्टेन मार्गेणेह परिभ्रमन् । वार्षिकां श्वतुरो मासान् पुरा मयि सुखोषित:,पहलेकी बात है, वे आचार्यचरण शास्त्रोक्त मार्गसे चलते हुए घूमते-घामते इधर आ निकले और वर्षा-ऋतुके चार महीने मेरे यहाँ सुखपूर्वक रहे
Janaka uvāca: Sāṅkhyajñānaṃ, yogavidyā tathā rājadharma—eteṣu trividheṣu mokṣadharmeṣu mama gantavya-mārgo gurudevāt prāptaḥ. Eṣu viṣayeṣu mama sarve saṃśayā nivṛttāḥ. Sa yathā-śāstra-dṛṣṭena mārgeṇeha paribhraman vārṣikāṃ caturō māsān purā mayi sukham uṣitaḥ.
Janaka disse: “De meu mestre venerável já recebi o caminho que devo seguir na tríplice disciplina que conduz à libertação — a visão do Sāṅkhya, a ciência do Yoga e o dharma do rei. Todas as minhas dúvidas sobre esses temas foram dissipadas. Há muito tempo, aquele mestre, peregrinando segundo o modo de vida prescrito pelos śāstra, veio a chegar aqui por acaso; e durante os quatro meses da estação das chuvas permaneceu comigo em tranquilidade.”

Liberation-oriented dharma is presented as a threefold discipline—Sāṅkhya (discriminative knowledge), Yoga (practical inner discipline), and Rājadharma (ethical governance). Janaka emphasizes that right guidance from a guru, grounded in śāstra, resolves doubt and clarifies one’s proper path.
Janaka recalls an earlier episode: his teacher, traveling in accordance with scriptural custom, arrived at Janaka’s place and stayed there for the four rainy-season months (cāturmāsya). During that association Janaka received instruction, after which his uncertainties about these mokṣa-teachings were removed.
