Śuka’s Guṇa-Transcendence and Vyāsa’s Consolation (शुकगति-वर्णनम्)

तथा चैते प्रदुष्यन्ति राजन्‌ ये कीर्तिता मया । तथैवास्य भयं तेभ्यो जायते पश्य यादृशम्‌,राजन! मैंने जिनका नाम लिया है, वे विद्वान्‌ और शूरवीर आदि अपने प्रति राजाकी आशंका देखकर सचमुच ही उसके प्रति दुर्भाव रखने लगते हैं और फिर उनसे राजाको जैसा भय प्राप्त होता है, उसको आप स्वयं ही समझ लें

tathā caite praduṣyanti rājan ye kīrtitā mayā | tathaivāsya bhayaṁ tebhyo jāyate paśya yādṛśam ||

Disse Bhīṣma: E assim, ó rei, aqueles mesmos homens que mencionei corrompem-se em sua disposição: ao verem a suspeita do soberano voltada contra eles, tornam-se de fato hostis a ele. Então, é deles que o rei passa a enfrentar o tipo de temor que daí resulta—vê por ti mesmo no que isso se transforma.
