Adhyātma–Adhibhūta–Adhidaivata Correspondences and the Triguṇa Lakṣaṇas (Śānti-parva 301)

देहदोषांस्तथा ज्ञात्वा तेषां दुःखं च तत्त्वतः । देहविक्लवतां चैव सम्यग विज्ञाय तत्त्वतः

dehadoṣāṁs tathā jñātvā teṣāṁ duḥkhaṁ ca tattvataḥ | dehaviklavtāṁ caiva samyag vijñāya tattvataḥ ||

Bhishma disse: Tendo reconhecido as falhas inerentes ao corpo, deve-se também compreender, em verdade, o sofrimento que delas surge. Do mesmo modo, é preciso discernir corretamente—tal como é—a fragilidade e a agitação do corpo. Nesta instrução, Bhishma exorta a um desapego lúcido e ético: ao ver sem autoengano as limitações corporais e a dor que delas decorre, a pessoa torna-se apta à firmeza, ao autocontrole e a um discernimento mais elevado.
