अध्याय २९७ — श्रेयः, धृति, दान-नियमाः
Welfare, Steadfastness, and Norms of Giving
न चैशि: पुण्यकर्माणो युज्यन्ते चाभिसंधिजै: । एवंविधैश्व बहुभिरपरै: प्राकृतेरपि,पुण्यकर्म करनेवाले मनुष्य इस तरहके उपायोंसे प्राण नहीं देते तथा ऐसे-ऐसे दूसरे अधम उपायोंसे भी उनकी मृत्यु नहीं होती
na caiśiḥ puṇyakarmāṇo yujyante cābhisaṃdhijaiḥ | evaṃvidhaiś ca bahubhir aparaiḥ prākṛter api ||
Disse Parāśara: Aqueles que se dedicam a obras meritórias não encontram o fim por artifícios forjados em intriga e maquinação; nem perecem por muitos outros meios vis semelhantes, nascidos da natureza comum e mundana. O verso sustenta uma visão ética: uma vida alicerçada na virtude não é facilmente derrubada por tramas mesquinhas e estratagemas ignóbeis.
