Educational Q&A

A dharma-discerning person should cultivate constant association with the virtuous (sat-saṁsarga), because it elevates and adorns one’s conduct; association with the wicked should be avoided in every circumstance.

Parāśara is instructing on righteous conduct in the didactic setting of the Śānti Parva, emphasizing moral discernment through the choice of one’s companions—valuing the company of the good and rejecting harmful association.
