गच्छावधानं नृपते ततो दु:खं प्रहास्यसि । “नरेश्वर! मैं पूर्ववर्ती राजाओंके महान् सौभाग्यका वर्णन करता हूँ। सुनो और सावधान हो जाओ। इससे तुम्हारा दुःख दूर हो जायगा
gacchāvadhānaṃ nṛpate tato duḥkhaṃ prahāsyasi |
Vāyu disse: “Atenta bem, ó rei; então lançarás fora a tua tristeza. Descrever-te-ei a grande boa fortuna dos reis de outrora—ouve com a mente concentrada, e teu pesar será dissipado.”

Vāyudeva addresses a king in a consolatory, instructive tone, urging him to be attentive; Vāyu then prepares to recount accounts of former kings whose great fortune (and implied dharmic conduct) will help relieve the king’s present sorrow.
