यदूर्ध्व पादतलयोरवाड़ मूर्थ्नश्व॒ पश्यसि । एतस्मिन्नेव कृत्स्नेयं वर्तते बुद्धिरन्तरे,पैरोंके तलुओंसे लेकर ऊपरकी ओर और मस्तकसे नीचेकी ओर जितना भी शरीर है, इसके भीतर यह बुद्धि पूर्णरूपसे व्याप्त हो रही है
yad ūrdhvaṃ pāda-talayor avāṅ mūrdhnaś ca paśyasi | etasminn eva kṛtsneyam vartate buddhir antare ||
Bhīṣma disse: “Qualquer porção do corpo que observes—desde acima das solas dos pés até ao alto da cabeça—em toda esta estrutura opera a faculdade de entendimento (buddhi), permeando o ser interior. O ensinamento aponta para a presença sutil da inteligência em toda a vida encarnada, guiando o discernimento e a conduta.”
भीष्म उवाच
That buddhi—the inner faculty of discernment—operates throughout the embodied person; it is not confined to a single spot but pervades the whole living frame, enabling judgment and ethical choice.
In Śānti Parva, Bhīṣma instructs Yudhiṣṭhira on dharma and inner principles; here he explains the pervasive functioning of buddhi within the body as part of a broader teaching on the self and right understanding.
