अध्याय २८१ — दानधर्मः, न्यायागतधनम्, ऋणत्रय-परिशोधनं च
Dāna ethics, lawful wealth, and settling obligations
ततो विमुच्य देवेन्द्र ब्रह्म॒वध्या युधिष्ठिर । यथा विसृष्टं तं वासमगमद् देवशासनात्,युधिष्ठिर! तदनन्तर देवराज इन्द्रको छोड़कर वह ब्रह्महत्या ब्रह्माजीकी आज्ञासे उनके दिये हुए पूर्वोक्त निवास-स्थानोंको चली गयी
tato vimucya devendra brahmavadhyā yudhiṣṭhira | yathā visṛṣṭaṃ taṃ vāsaṃ agamad devaśāsanāt ||
Bhishma disse: “Então, ó Yudhishthira, Indra—o senhor dos deuses—foi libertado da mancha do brahmahatyā. De acordo com a ordenança divina, esse pecado partiu e foi para as moradas que lhe haviam sido previamente designadas.”
भीष्म उवाच
Moral fault binds even the powerful; release from grave sin (brahmahatyā) is not arbitrary but occurs through rightful authority and in accordance with dharma, emphasizing accountability and the ordered process of expiation.
Bhīṣma tells Yudhiṣṭhira that Indra is freed from the personified taint of brahmahatyā, and that the sin, by divine command, departs to the abodes previously allotted to it.
