परिव्राजक-आचारः (Conduct of the Wandering Renunciant) — Mahābhārata, Śānti-parva 269
आनृशंस्यं क्षमा शान्तिरहिंसा सत्यमार्जवम् | अद्रोहो5नभिमान श्र ह्वीस्तितिक्षा शमस्तथा,समस्त प्राणियोंपर दया, क्षमा, शान्ति, अहिंसा, सत्य, सरलता, अद्रोह, निरभिमानता, लज्जा, तितिक्षा और शम--ये परब्रह्म परमात्माकी प्राप्तिके मार्ग हैं। इनके द्वारा पुरुष परब्रह्मको प्राप्त कर लेता है। इस प्रकार विद्वान् पुरुषको मनके द्वारा कर्मके वास्तविक परिणामका निश्चय समझना चाहिये
ānṛśaṃsyaṃ kṣamā śāntir ahiṃsā satyam ārjavam | adroho 'nabhimānaś ca hrīs titikṣā śamas tathā ||
Kapila disse: “Compaixão por todos os seres, perdão, paz, não violência, veracidade, retidão, ausência de malícia, ausência de orgulho, modéstia, tolerância e autocontenção interior — estes são os caminhos que conduzem à obtenção do Brahman Supremo. Ao cultivá-los, a pessoa alcança o Supremo. Portanto, o homem instruído deve, pelo discernimento da mente, determinar o verdadeiro resultado das ações.”
कपिल उवाच
Kapila lists a set of ethical and psychological virtues—compassion, forgiveness, peace, non-violence, truth, sincerity, non-malice, humility, modesty, forbearance, and mental restraint—as the practical means (mārga) to attain the Supreme Brahman.
In the Śānti Parva’s instructional discourse, Kapila is teaching about liberation-oriented conduct. He emphasizes that inner virtues and disciplined character determine the true fruit of actions and lead one toward realization of the Supreme.
